The Cuchulainn MTB League is back this April and there are a few changes in store.
With the advent of the newly formed off-road committee we have had a look at the league from the ground up and based on your feedback made as many improvements as possible for the 2015 season:
- There will be 15 rounds with your best 13 performances counting towards your league total (up from 12 / 10).
- We have some quality prizes for the top three supplied by Galibier!
- Races will be divided evenly between Bellurgan Park and the open mountain (weather dependant).
- Round 14 will be riders choice - vote for your favourite course.
- Courses will be short and sharp to begin with but will progressively increase in distance as nights get longer.
- Courses will differ as much as possible each week and we aim to include multiple laps where possible as opposed to one long route or single loop.
- The first two races are mass start. From round 3 onwards we will be implementing a handicap system and there will be two categories of racers based on ability.
- Bellurgan Park is currently undergoing a development programme and new features are being added monthly.
- We are also running a raffle for some bike related gear with a number of prizes available at the last league race. For each race you attend you will be given a raffle ticket. If you marshall you get 2 tickets. You must be present at the last race to partake in the raffle.
Some Rules, Regulations and Info
- You must have a Limited Competition or Race License to take part.
- Entry to the league is €15 for the season payable online or on race night.
- The first race is free.
- All riders must wear a helmet.
- Marshals receive the same points as the race winner and an extra raffle ticket.
- All cars (with the exception of the race marshals) to be parked in the lower car park beside Bellurgan House.
- Try and be punctual as the races will start at the stated times, if you're late you can still race but you will likely be in a different handicap group.
- No eBikes :)
