Intro to Ladies Cycling

Cuchulainn Cycling club encourages women to join and participate in the sport from all levels and abilities of cycling. Our female membership numbers are increasing yearly and we currently have over 50 female member. We provide training spins from complete beginners to those at a more advanced level. Cycling is growing in popularity and women in Cuchulainn participate in a variety of events locally and nationally from Sportives to road racing and mountain biking. We also have a face book page -Cuchulainn women CC that contains regular updates from our members on training and on up and coming events.

You don’t have to be super fit to join, in fact not only will you improve your fitness, you will make some new friends along the way and there’s always a bit of craic. We also have regular social nights outs during the year. For more info contact us on women@dundalkcycling.com

New members: New members are always welcome. For those starting out we recommend a mixed beginners group called Pat's Saturday Morning Coffee Cycle, leaving from Felda Gym. Distances range from 40km - 70km. This group is popular with ladies starting out.

Tuesday: Summer Women Only Spin. Leaving from Felda at 6.45pm. We would like to encourage as many women as possible to come out for a spin as long as the light allows. Spins will get naturally longer as the summer progresses. There will be a mix of experience and ability so different sub groups will be formed.  This is a great way to meet up with other female cyclists. Please check out Cuchulainn Women FB for updates of weekly spins.

Please see Intro to Leisure Cycling for all other group spins.

It’s mandatory that you wear a helmet on group spins. It’s also important to bring some bars and water, money for the coffee stop and wear suitable warm clothing. Bring some spare tubes, a small pump and tyres levers in case of a puncture. It’s important you bring these items on all group spins. If anything does happen you won’t be left behind as the group stays together. A light and mud guards are also needed for winter spins at all levels.

You are permitted to come out for 3 spins before committing to becoming a member, we would then encourage you to join the club.
