While it may not have been plain sailing for a few weeks there, we seem to be getting back on track where races actually match up to where they should be on the calendar. Ravensdale Circuit last week (in place of the M1/Ardee/Fane Bridge) was probably the fastest time that all groups have completed the circuit.
Special word of thanks to Gabe McArdle, Lead Marshal Ray Fedigan and all his merry men on the night for an extremely slick and polished change of route. Once the decision was made, everyone decamped from DKIT, marshals collected signs and got reassigned and setup again in new positions with the minimum of fuss. By 19:30 we had the racing under way… Chapeau to all involved…
And for the record, whoever left the Child of Prague out on Wednesday night, thanks a million!!! No idea how we managed it, but with torrential rain in the south of the county and at the Carrickdale Hotel, we managed to stay dry for 40k of good racing.
Let’s hope those weather gods are with us on Thursday as we head to the home of Louth’s newest tourist attraction (Carlingford Ferry) and make the hard starboard turn at Greenore and beging the long drag home to Ballymascanlon. Some of us got caught out the last time about the finish line being approx. 50m further on, so be aware Thursday night….
Please check sign on groups…
The roads should be familiar to all of us at this stage; some gravel is possible at Fitzpatrick’s turn, speed ramps in Lordship, poor road surface on way past Cooley Inn on return leg.
IMPORTANT: It is very important that all riders continue rolling out after crossing the finish line and pull into the hard shoulder on the way towards Niall Clarke Oils. It’s likely that a number of cars will have joined the back of the cavalcade on the way home, and riders stopping without warning will cause a ripple effect and possibly an accident… Roll out and then pull in and assess how safe it is to return to the finish line if you have to, otherwise head back for Sportsmans. Common sense at the Ballymac Roundabout please, the last evening we finished at Ballymac we incurred some choice language from members of the public following incidents after the race

Mick Sheridan (+353 87 2226086) is your lead marshal (Group 3) this week, and if you’re on duty, you should have received a text already. If you haven’t already done so, please make contact with Mick to confirm your attendance. With this being a new circuit, we need as many marshals as possible…
