Round 7of The Bike Station League

Round 7 of the Bike Station Summer Cycling league was run off in high temperatures and glorious sunshine, after the rain finally cleared. The race consisted of 2 laps of the Dromin Circuit, which meant 2 taps up the testing Dromin Hill.

The race came right down to the wire, with scratch catching those still out front in the final km. Robert Neary from group 5 made a late solo bid for the win and only in the final few hundred meters was he overtaking by the fast finishing Aimhirghin O`Brannagain of UCD Cycling Club. Right behind Aimhirghin was Tomas McCabe in second place, while Neary hung on for 3rd to complete the podium.

Early runaway league leader Navan's Joseph Mullen has missed the last 2 rounds and having failed to score any points now slips to 3rd in the table, with Tomas McCabe occupying pole position ahead of Liam Dolan. While it is still relatively tight at the top, McCabe is starting to pull away with 8 rounds remaining.

In the support race Eoin Holmes took a break from the exams to put in a huge performance and beat out two Carrickmacross riders Aidan Leonard and Darren Kane to win.
