Child Protection Policy of Cuchulainn Cycling Club:
General Guidelines:
With a strong and growing contingent of youth and junior riders, the club have devised a child protection policy to help safeguard younger rider’s wellbeing.
Our first priority is the welfare of young riders. We are committed to providing an environment which allows them to perform to the best of their ability in a safe environment free from bullying and intimidation.
This policy should be read in conjunction with Cycling Ireland’s Child Protection Policy. http://www.cyclingireland.ie/page/about/safeguarding
Junior and youth riders are bound by the same rules and guidelines as senior riders, e.g. they have to wear a helmet, obey the rules of the road, obey the instructions of the group leader etc.
It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that children’s bikes are in a road worthy condition and that they are dressed appropriately for the weather on the day.
Where a junior or youth is taking part in a club race a parent/guardian must be present for the duration of the event.
Parent/Guardian must inform the group leader of any medical conditionsof their child.
No Youth or Junior may return to training after injury without been cleared to do so by a physiotherapist.
If there are any queries about the policy or complaints regarding violations, the CPO (Child Protection Officer) can be reached via cpo@dundalkcycling.com The phone number is available on request.
The National and Provincial CPO, s details are available at the Cycling Ireland Child Protection page.
