The Bike Station League

The most recent round of The Bike Station Summer Cycling League was the 35km route out to Greenore and back. Riders often think of the course as flat, but when racing flat out the drag from Greenore up to the Bush always sees the bunch thinned down. The race saw Gary Gorman of Stamullen Road Club take the win with a length to spare over Cuchulainn's Alan Bingham. The race saw the groups come together quite early, which made for very aggressive racing with a number of riders attempting solo attacks. A number of promising looking groups did form a lead from time to time however strong riding from those behind ensure a bunch sprint decided the day.

With just 2 rounds remaining it is neck and neck at the top between Alan Bingham and Benny Smyth of Kileavy Cycling Club. The final 2 rounds are flat courses which would suit Bingham's strong sprint finish. However strong man Smyth is in a group ahead of Bingham & if he can organise the riders they could always stay away for the win.

Also on the horizon is the Louth Road Race Championship for men and women on Thursday August 27th. The course will see the riders head to Carrick, Across to Ardee and Dorians Pub, before finishing at the Fane Bridge. The race opened to any Louth residents will be a mass start affair
