Lennon & McCartney in the Bike Station League

The results of race 2 in the second round of the Bike Station Summer Cycling League had a somewhat peculiar look to them, with Paul McCartney taking the win ahead of John Lennon. No this was not the second coming of the majestic Liverpudlians but Dundalk's McCartney who rides for Cuchulain taking a fine win ahead of Carrick Wheelers Lennon. Unfortunately no Ringo or George where present to round out the comeback. Andrew Flood took 3rd place with another of the infamous cycling O`Shaughnessey dynasty, Cian in 4th.

In the main race it was another very fast night and  Ralph Ginesi of Newry Wheelers managed to hang in when group 5 swept up all before them. In a fast finish Ginesi beat out Jack O`Donnell of Drogheda Wheelers into second and Gary McGoven of Armagh Down into third. Ray Fedigan was the first Cuchulainn man in fourth. Once again group 6 failed to make the bridge to the front of the race.

Ray Fedigan carried his form over to the weekend & claimed 8th position in the latest round of the IVCA League, with his team ate Aidan Delaney just outside the top 10 in 11th position.  Also claiming another 8th position was Ian Clarke in the A4 race in Carrickmore.

Ultra Endurance is a discipline which has seen a rise in popularity in Ireland over the recent years & Cuchulainn's Declan Rafferty tackled a 200mile race on Saturday last (April 28th). The race saw the riders tackle large portions of counties Donegal, Tyrone and Antrim, with a lot of climbing along the way. Rafferty finished the event in a shade under 12hours , which was good enough for 5th place. Rafferty was using the event as part of his training for the Donegal Ultra cycle, which will see the competitors complete a tear inducing 555km around the mountainous county.
