Round 7 of the Bike Station League was a repeat of the 43km Fane - Ardee - Fane circuit from earlier on. This time instead of a strong wind we had cold, murky rain and a lot of oil on the roads making them greasy and treacherous. Only four ladies were racing tonight, with a large contingent still waiting for their bikes to return home from the half Ironman in St. Polten, Austria. Well done Mary Laverty, Nuala O Donoghue Kathleen Byrne , Sarah Fagan, Siobhan Ladd Greer, Yvonne Cummins and Claire Maher, and all of the Austrian contingent, you are all legends!
Also missing from the action were Debbie Lundy and Rosena Lynch taking part in Race the Ras, and Celine Mc Phillips competing in the ETU Lisbon European Triathlon Championships for Ireland.
Eve Mc Crystal continues to add to her haul of gold medals competing on the tandem in the Paracycling World Cup in Belgium, we truly do have some real superstars in our midst!
Mairead Holden and Rosemary Gibson from Cuchulainn were representing the ladies in Group 1, and the two Louth Road Race medal winners from Ardee in Group 2, Johanna Rogan and Claire Ludlow.
Group 1 had a couple of new additions, and from the start they split the group and made a break with Rosemary hanging on to the wheel. The break stayed away until caught by Group 2's own five man/woman breakaway (with Johanna) in Kilsaran. Group 3 joined the party on the straight in the last 3km to the finish line. Johanna was first lady home, followed by Rosemary, Claire and Mairead. Fast racing on a dirty wet night, well done all, and thanks to all the marshals and organisers :-
