Cuchulainn Cycling Club served up a mud fest for the Irish Cyclocross Championships. The wet weather meant that the course in Muirhevenva Park was very muddy which while entertaining for the spectators made for a slippy and dirty day for the riders. The main event served up a classic duel as expected between Bandridge's Roger Aiken and defending champion Dublin's Robin Seymour. From the gun the two broke away from the rest and went at it hammer and thongs. Aiken was leading the way with Seymour on his wheel the whole way. Entering the final lap Seymour slip on the mud and Aiken seized his chance to press on for the win, with just an 11 second gap. Third place over 2mins back was Conor McConvey. Club man Ray O'Shaughnessy was 5th.
Francine Meehan of Tullamore C.C. was the winner of the ladies Championship, ahead of Melanine Spath and Susie Mitchell. Newry's Peter McConville won the vets Championships with Johnny McCabe in 3rd. The club did claim a medal when Aaron McCann took bronze in the Junior Race, with clubmate Aimhrigin O'Brannigan in 4th. Marc Pagel of Dublin based Team WORC won the support race.
